Encourage employees to stretch to reach goalsLooking at this picture, you may be wondering  “What does exercising have to do with marketing?”  Does this company specialize in marketing for the fitness industry?  Well, the answer to the second question is no.  But with regard to the first question…. well, one of the things that we  are a big believer in is “industry cross-fertilization”.  We feel every industry has a lesson to offer.

One of the practices we utilize at Asage is the concept of industry cross-fertilization. We use it because it works.  After all, how many times does one have to re-invent the wheel? Just imagine if something as flexible as ‘the wheel’, was only used on a wheel-barrow. There are thousands of examples just like this one that basically underscore the importance of industry cross-fertilization. Taking what works in one industry and transferring it to another.

For purposes of this article, the focus is on fitness, specifically flexibility.  A long time ago, I selected a graduation card for a friend that included on the front cover a line which read something like:

Only as far as you reach can you go.

I love this pharse because it underscores that our expectations really do drive success.  Of course, this is only one aspect of flexibility, but to me, it is critical.  Goal setting is paramount in life, and it’s paramount in business.  When you ask your employees to stretch and they are stretching on a daily basis, you can bet that they will become more flexible, more nimble, better able to adapt to these rapidly changing times, and better able to reach those goals that used to be….just beyond reach.
